Backup Backup Backup
Three words you should never forget. Plus, a reason we say it three times, because our experience has proven that having 3 copies of your data backed up and current at all times is a best practice. One of those 3 copies must be off site. Why is the magic number 3? Simple, because we’ve seen 2 layers of data redundancy fail in the past, we’ve never seen 3 layers all fail at the same time.
Backing up your computer data comes with a myriad of solutions, MTS will analyze and recommend the best solution for your specific needs.
Many years ago, the only way to backup your files were to use a floppy disk. Those days are long gone and definately to your advantage, as floppy disks had a high failure rate.
Current backup technologies include burning a CD or DVD, utilizing a DAT drive, an external hard drive, an online backup service, the choices are endless.
Micro Tech Systems can implement a disaster recovery plan, each business needs one, most never give it a thought, that is, until the inevitable hard drive crash or viral attack happens and by then it could be too late.
Our sister company, The Data Store, Inc was founded long before any of the other companies you may see advertising on TV, Radio and the internet. When choosing an company that provides an automatic backup solution, clearly price is important, but consider other things as well, such as, where is your backed up data physically located, do you TRUST them with YOUR data ?
Additional information about online backups is available here.
Remember, it’s not IF your hard drive will fail, it’s WHEN. Total number of drive failures = All of them. Eventually all drives fail for one reason or another, implement and maintain a Disaster Recovery Plan!
